
The Secretary of Gullane Golf Club is responsible for the membership of the Club.
The membership categories of Ordinary and Five Day are currently closed.
Country membership is available and the criteria is that their place of abode must not be less than 150 miles from the Club.
Overseas membership is available and the criteria is that the applicant shall have no residence or place of business within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The method of application is laid down in the rules of the Club as follows:
Rule 5. Election of Members
(i) Candidates applying to become Ordinary, Country, Five Day, Overseas and Junior Members, shall be proposed and seconded respectively by two Ordinary Members, with a minimum of five years' membership each. A candidate and his proposer shall submit to the Secretary an application form as laid down by the Committee, together with the proposer's and seconder's letters of recommendation.
(ii) The election of candidates as Members shall be vested in the Committee who will interview candidates or may delegate this duty to an ad hoc sub-committee. The Committee may waive the requirements of an interview, if thought appropriate.
In addition the following applies:
No member may propose or second any applicant for the same category until two full subscription years have applied. In this instance a qualifying proposer and seconder may propose or second one applicant for Ordinary and one applicant for Five Day membership even if the Five Day applicant subsequently wishes to gain Ordinary membership at a later date.
The application requires 4 supporters who may be Ordinary, Five Day, Country, Overseas or Honorary Life Members of the Club with no restriction on the number of forms supported, time-scales between applications or minimum number of years of membership.
For Junior membership the same process applies for proposer and seconder however the four additional signatures are not required.
A specified number of Residents permits are available to play courses No. 2 and No.3 and the criteria to apply for a permit is that you must be a resident of the Parish of Dirleton and are not a member of a golf club within the Lothians area.
